SEK International School Program
SEK El Castillo International School is located northwest of Madrid, in the Villafranca del Castillo urbanization (Villanueva de la Cañada, Madrid), a residential area just 20 minutes from the city center.
A private, non-denominational, independent, and mixed school founded in 1972 with students from 4 months to 18 years old. It is a bilingual center (Spanish-English) with additional languages (French, German, and Chinese) and native teachers.
Its opening hours are from 9.30 to 17.30 (adapted for athletes). It implements the following International Baccalaureate Programs: Primary Years Program (PYP), Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP), with the possibility of male and female student residence.
SEK-El Castillo School’s primary objective for sports students is that they can combine their studies with sports, obtaining the best academic and sporting results. We have demonstrated this for years with the agreement with Real Madrid C.F., in which players from its youth team (football and basketball) study at our center, as do athletes from the SEK International Sports Academy Program.
The school has three study possibilities: English, Spanish, and Bilingual.
IB Model
An IB education aims to transform students and schools throughout their learning through dynamic cycles of inquiry, action, and reflection. Teachers support students and empower their capabilities as they develop the approaches to learning needed for academic and personal success.
SEK International Sports Academy offers the following for student-athletes between 8 and 18 years old:

Academic Guidance to learn the appropriate strategies for proper time management and to make the most of the hours dedicated to studying. We have a person in charge of supporting the academic part specifically for the program’s students.

The SEK International Sports Academy program offers a comprehensive scholarship program to support and assist school and university students achieve their academic goals.
Through our scholarship and study grant program at SEK Schools and Camilo José Cela University, we promote the training of the best athletes in the pursuit of excellence among our students.

Online Models
British System
Before applying for an online course we want you and your child to understand just how the homeschooling system works. Below we set out what your child can expect on a course and the support they and you will receive.
With our Online Academic Programs, we encourage our students to become independent learners. Our system is based on over one hundred years of experience helping students gain qualifications successfully while studying at home.
When your child is enrolled in one of our courses, they will be allocated to a Student Progress Manager (SPM). The SPM will call you both via Skype soon after enrolment and will be in regular contact with your child to help them stay on track with their studies. She will prepare an Assignment Schedule for your child and will liaise with you both as they progress through their course(s) to ensure that all is running smoothly.
For each subject your child studies with us, they will have a designated Tutor who will work with them through the course. He or she will be responsible for grading and providing full feedback on your child’s assignments and answering any course-related questions they may have along the way. We send you and your child each Tutor’s profile when they are enrolled, so you both will know quite a bit about them before “meeting” them in your Skype call.
If your child is taking an exam course, our Exams Officers are here to help you with any queries you may have about registering your child for their exams, such as finding a convenient exam center.
American System
Teachers communicate directly with individual students throughout each course to ensure that every student is mastering the content, staying on track and performing high-quality work.
Our learning platform is designed to create engaged, active learning and foster a feeling of community with our students. In addition to online content similar to what online schools use for their entire programs, we also incorporate one-on-one sessions, group discussions, live lessons with class participation, group projects and interactive coursework to help students directly engage with their work, their teachers and with other students.
Our proprietary, internationally accredited academic curriculum is developed and maintained in-house by qualified teachers who actively instruct students at the flagship school in Austin, Texas. This is in direct contrast to other online schools that license a one-size-fits-all curriculum from third parties. The courses cover all core requirements as well as global languages and a variety of electives including SAT/ACT prep.
We offer a wide range of support services including tutoring, advising, college application assistance, scholarship search and application consulting, SAT/ACT prep and more.
